Local Places, Local Voices: An Evening of Poetry with Olympia Poetry Network

Join four Olympia poets for a celebration of place and how it inspires us.  Don Freas, Cynthia Pratt, Linda Strever and Tim Kelly will read poetry on Saturday, October 1st, beginning at 7 p.m.  The event, titled “Local Voices, Local Places” is part of the Olympia Poetry Network’s ongoing series to raise awareness of our area’s talented writers.  The featured poets all have books available on the ‘Local Poets’ shelves at Orca.  The event is free.

Born and raised among the old factory towns of the the mid-Atlantic states, Don Freas arrived in Washington State in early 1972. In addition to writing and poetry, Freas has decades of practice as a designer and craftsman in wood and steel, producing sculpture and furniture since 1974. Don lives on the shores of Puget Sound, a stone’s throw from the city limits of Olympia.
