Dear Friend,

We are the staff of
Orca Books, the largest independent bookstore in Olympia, Washington. You may have heard that Orca Books is transitioning into a Co-op, but what you may not have heard is that Orca Books is at risk of closing

In order to raise money for a successful transition to a Co-op and to keep the store alive, we will be hosting Orca’s First Annual Holiday Auction and Dinner Party.

We Invite you to Attend

Orca Books is iconic. It’s been a staple here in Olympia for almost 30 years. Over this time, Orca Books has cultivated an atmosphere that is friendly and open. Our customers and staff come from all walks of life, forming a vibrant, supportive, and generous book-loving community. Above all, Orca Books has rejoiced in providing a wonderful and eccentric haven for its equally wonderful and eccentric community.

We want to lay it out in black and white. Over the last two decades, Amazon, the big box stores, and e-books dealt a serious blow to indie bookstores nationwide. The corporate competition sent Orca on a downward spiral. But the tide is turningindependent bookstores are back on the rise. In order to catch this new wave of bibliophilia, we need a little extra help from our community.

The reality is that Orca Books is in danger of closing its doors…

But You Can Help Save Orca Books!

There are several ways to help:

  • + Purchase a ticket to attend the auction as a guest.
  • + Donate to the auction! Donations can include: gift cards, t-shirts & merch, art, workshops, classes or lessons, signed books, art, or etc! Be creative, and imagine what strengths and skills you can offer to the Olympia community.
  • + Attend any or all of our upcoming Fundraisers
  • + Donate tax-deductible funds to our Network for Goods Page or nondeductible funds to our GoFundMe Page!
  • + Become a Co-op member!
  • + Shop at Orca and support our store!
  • + Spread the word to all your friends!

We would love your support.

Sincerely yours,

The OrcaPod

(Linda, Troy, Daniel, Devin, Clare and Holly)
